This Reset Didn’t Happen in the Gym

Jun 28, 2025

Happy Saturday,

I spent last week doing something I don’t do nearly enough:

Nothing.
Or at least… not much.

I wasn’t in the gym. I wasn’t on my laptop. I was outside... a lot.
Walking, resting, breathing, playing... doing beachy things. No plans, no pressure. Just moving through the day in my own rhythm (well, and my family's too!).

And here’s what I was reflecting on throughout:

This was a RESET, too. This was the real RESET I needed.

We often discuss Pressing RESET, referring to intentional movement patterns that restore the nervous system and help you feel and move better.

But a lot of times, the best RESET doesn’t happen in the gym.

It happens when you unplug, when you go outside, when you let your body be a body without trying to control or fix anything.

Sunlight. Stillness. Gait. Laughter. Time away.
They all speak to your nervous system in a way that says,
“You’re safe. You can breathe. You can let go.”

And if you want to keep building real strength, I'd say this is a necessity.... this is what keeps strength strong.

This week, Tim posted one of his favorite training days  Gait Day on Instagram.
It’s filled with carries, crawling, skipping, and sprinting, because sometimes the most powerful “training” is just moving the way you were made to.

If you’re feeling tired, wired, or like your strength isn’t showing up the way you want it to...step back.

Look at your inputs. Look at your recovery. Look at your environment. See if you're letting your just body be a body.

Not all resets require reps.
Sometimes they just require permission.

Here’s your permission.
Go outside. Breathe. Go for a walk.  Play.

Enjoy your weekend,

Dani
